Welcome to the latest update from the Lambeth & Southwark London Assembly campaign.
With Christmas almost upon us, here is a quick reminder of what's coming up in the New Year, and what has been going on over the last week.
***FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY***
On Monday 4th January we will be holding a Tube Action Day at a number of stations across Lambeth & Southwark from 7.30am. This will be our first big push of the New Year and a really good way of signalling our intent to voters. If your New Year's Resolution is to get involved in the campaign then this will be the perfect start!
Exact details to follow
On Tuesday 5th January we will be canvassing in Clapham Town from 7pm. One of our local Councillors has generously agreed to provide sausages afterwards, to reward canvassers!
Meeting place to be confirmed (near Clapham Common Tube Station)
Yvonne Stewart-Williams me at the Thames Reach Waterloo Project for former rough-sleepers on Sunday.
***LAST WEEK***
We have had an extremely busy final week of the campaign before Christmas, both politically and socially!
On Sunday I visited the Thames Reach Project in Waterloo, which supports former rough sleepers by offering them independent living to prepare them for life away from the streets as well as proper therapy and skills training to deal with underlying problems.
I was hugely impressed by the dedication of the staff at Thames Reach and the impact that their work has. As ever, though, they are always in need of more funding and more volunteers. If you are able to make a donation to help support the project, Thames Reach would be enormously grateful, particularly at this time of year. You can find out more and donate at: www.thamesreach.org.uk/help-us/donate/
Earlier in the week, the team and I were phone canvassing again at CCHQ, drumming up support for the Lambeth & Southwark campaign and the Mayoral campaign. These will be a regular fixture in the months ahead, and a really good way of getting involved.
On Tuesday I spoke at Dulwich & West Norwood's Pub Politics event in Tulse Hill on housing. Housing is such a vital issue for Londoners and I am putting it at the heart of my campaign. The scale of the turnout showed how important it is for local members too. There will be more Pub Politics nights coming up in the New Year where other big issues will be up for discussion.
With the campaign winding down for Christmas, there were end of year events across Lambeth & Southwark. Streatham welcomed Deputy Party Chairman Rob Halfonas guest speaker at their Christmas Drinks, while Camberwell & Peckham held their Christmas celebration at The Bear pub.
Special thanks this week go to Olivia Seccombe, Gareth Wallace, Michael Jefferson, Mike Johnson and Yvonne Stewart-Williams.
Thank you for all your support in the first couple of months of the campaign and have a very Happy Christmas!
I am a London born, English lesbian biological mother of a male child named James. I am also in a long term committed relationship with a woman. I am in full time paid employment and am the published author of the book 'Altered Perceptions'. I have a Schizoaffective disorder mental distress diagnosis and I was diagnosed with Erotomania, which is treated with a small amount of regular oral anti-psychotic medication, whilst I was a prisoner in HMP Holloway in 2009. I am responsible and active with the well being of my only biological child James who was in long term foster care with a heterosexual married couple. This was due to consequences of my mental distress experiences, and my prior single parent status.
